History

JEMCO's origin dates back to 1934 when the company entered the field of Heavy Engineering Castings under the stewardship of late Sardar Bahadur Sir Inder Singh at Jamshedpur which was then the fastest growing Industrial zone.

At the outbreak of World War II and huge demand of rolled steel, 1939,the company diversified into manufacturing of Rolls for the first time in India in the year 1939. With technical collaboration from SAFAK Belgium, JEMCO rolled out its first finished roll in 1940.

JEMCO's pioneering roll manufacture played a pivotal role in supporting and setting up numerous steel based industries and rolling mills, thereby, helping to spearhead India's growing technological self-reliance.

In the year 1990 JEMCO got merged with IS&WP Ltd and became its division. In December 2003, ISWP along with JEMCO as a division was taken over by Tata Steel as its subsidiary. Through strengthening the infrastructure and innovation, JEMCO put its firm step into the global market. JEMCO revived its capacity of making engineering castings after this.
